The pupils of the 8th form have started learning a new topic. It's about music.
Very soon they are going to create projects about their favourite music and best performers.
Music gives us that special opportunity to dive into the unique world of sounds.
My friend Ms Androsiuk ( the former Troyeshchyna gymnasium teacher of English
and the director of studies in the gymnasium, now a teacher at Taras Shevchenko University)
and I have enjoyed listening to Bolero by Ravel
in Taras Shevchenko Opera and Ballet House today.
MUSIC doth uplift me like a sea
Towards my planet pale,
Then through dark fogs or heaven's infinity
I lift my wandering sail.
With breast advanced, drinking the winds that flee,
And through the cordage wail,
I mount the hurrying waves night hides from me
Beneath her sombre veil.
I feel the tremblings of all passions known
To ships before the breeze;
Cradled by gentle winds, or tempest-blown
I pass the abysmal seas
That are, when calm, the mirror level and fair
Of my despair!
Порою музыка объемлет дух, как море:
О бледная звезда,
Под черной крышей туч, в эфирных бездн просторе,
К тебе я рвусь тогда;
И грудь и легкие крепчают в яром споре,
И, парус свой вия,
По бешеным хребтам померкнувшего моря
Взбирается ладья.
Трепещет грудь моя, полна безумной страстью,
И вихрь меня влечет над гибельною пастью,
Но вдруг затихнет все -
И вот над пропастью бездонной и зеркальной
Опять колеблет дух спокойный и печальный
Отчаянье свое!
