Congratulations and best wishes to Olia Litvina and Stasia Cherneha
who are the City Olympiad 2nd and 3rd place winners 2013/2014 among 10 Graders!!!
These are the questions which I asked them:
Is it easy to become a winner of the 3 round of the Olympiad in English?
What are your impressions of participating in the Olympiad together with the best representatives of Kyiv's districts?
What are the positive and negative aspects of the event?
What would you recommend other students wiho may take part in the competition next year?
This is what Olia said:
Hello everyone! My name is Olga Litvina and I'm from 10-A Grade. This year I've participated in the competition in English and I've won the second place in the urban stage of the competition. I am really happy that I've proved that my knowledge of English is pretty high. Yes, I can't say that everything was honest and fair during the competition and that there was no prejudice but it is even more pleasant to know that I have achieved such great results and that I've overcome quiet nasty barriers and performed at my best.
There is no recipe or clue how to achieve amazing results in something. But I think that, first of all, you have to love what you're doing and you should be interested in this particular subject. To perform really well you have to train a lot before your performance: your wonderful results are the consequences of your hard work, conscience and will-power. You have to be self-organized and to know what your aim is.
And you should always remember that it doesn't matter how life or the situation is unfair to you because the only thing that matters is how much you are honest to yourself. Don't think of proving something to someone because you are the only person who knows what you know and how well you know this. Remember that each point of view is subjective.
I hope it was interesting for you to read my opinion. I wish everyone good luck, conquering new peaks and participating in breathtaking competitions. :D
We are waiting for Stasia's speculations about the Olympiad, which will be added to this material soon.
Thank you girls for demonstrating such high results. You are best of the best!
